Baking doesn’t get easier (or tastier) than this Vegan Banana Bread recipe. Perfect for breakfast or an afternoon snack, this recipe is a delightful, guilt-free indulgence made entirely from real foods with no meat alternatives. Follow the steps below to make your own wholesome banana bread at home!

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1/3 cup olive oil or coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour or whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup raisins or vegan chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. A few lumps are fine—this will add texture to your bread.
  3. Add the olive oil or melted coconut oil, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and almond milk to the mashed bananas. Stir until well combined.
  4. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the banana mixture, and mix well.
  5. Gently fold in the flour, mixing only until no streaks of flour remain. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in a dense bread.
  6. If using, gently fold in the chopped walnuts and raisins or vegan chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Nutritional Value

Bananas are rich in potassium, vitamin C, and dietary fiber, all crucial for maintaining heart health and stable digestion. Olive oil provides a source of healthy fats, known to support cardiovascular health, while the almond milk adds a touch of calcium to the mix.
